My play excerpt at the Playwright's Festival
Submitted by Palmito on July 10, 2008 - 4:32pm.
The play I worked on at the beginning of last year - "Time Upon" - was selected for this year's Bay Area SHorts (BASH!) reading of the Bay Area Playwright's Festival, a nationally known festival of new work.
I am very excited and grateful to have this opportunity to continue to work on this play during the festival, and a 30-minute excerpt of my new version will be performed as a stage reading, along with four other BASH plays.
I am even more excited that it will reunite several members of Balé Techlorico, including director Christine Young and two people for whom the play was originally written - Nicole Lungerhausen and Daveed Diggs. In addition, the festival includes my friend Jonathan Luskin, who has been instrumental in filming the Balé Tech shows; Claire Chafee, a previous playwrighting instructor, and Marcus Gardley, who was an undergrad at SFSU while I was in the grad program - and it really should have been the other way around.
The details are here and here.
(Fwiw - the one-liner description that appears on the BAPF site sucks all the soul and joy out of the concept of the play. Please consider instead my original "one-liner")
