Every Wednesday, Orkest Asfalto hosts a drum class for beginners and intermediate drummers at Presidio Hill School, in the San Francisco Laurel Heights district.

Our drum classes are unique - we mix folkloric percussion with urban club rhythms, using a mix of traditional and non-traditional instrumentation (e.g. drumming on buckets and trash bins).

This means that our classes are: easily accessible for beginner drummers with a quick ramp-up for more intermediate drummers; inexpensive because there is no cost for rental equipment or expensive traditional drums; non-intimidating because of our atypical approach, and with an assortment of folkloric and club rhythms a lot will sound familiar, even if you've never learned percussion before.

• You do not need to have any prior drumming or musical experience.
• You do not need to bring any instruments .
• The classes are pay what you can - $5-$12 suggested.
